My Latest Discoveries

people in California think it's cool to put your lettuce in sushi rolls. without telling you. so when you order a shrimp tempura roll, the freshly tempura-ed shrimp makes the lettuce warm. so uncool.

soliciting signatures for petitions outside of grocery stores is commonplace in San Diego. every cause known to man is represented, and they don't back off unless you tell them you are under eighteen or not a US citizen. In the past two weeks I have been harangued by people wanting signatures to save the Grand Canyon from something, to support gay marriage, to petition against gay marriage, to donate to the ASPCA... it is a little overwhelming.

laying out by the pool for exactly twenty minutes (WITH SUNSCREEN) is all it takes for me to get a little color (aka slightly pink and a little more freckly). seriously. twenty minutes.

I am becoming more obsessed with the Royals, and Kate Middleton marrying into the family is only making me more obsessed. I wish we were friends, so we could talk about our helicopter-flying husbands, decision to wear very simple wedding dresses when everyone else wanted us to be swallowed up in tulle and sparkles...and so I could find out how she keeps her hair so perfectly shiny all the time.

Einstein Brothers Bagels makes an extremely passable caramel macciatto. Maciato? Mak-ee-ah-tow? whatever. it's $1.40 cheaper than what I usually order... sold.

people in California think that 80 degrees with zero humidity is "hot." huh. cute.
